Asking vulnerable questions in the kitchen encourages them to do the same when they step out into the world. When they get the hang of a skill, they can then turn to a buddy who needs assistance. All client guest rooms at Tharros are equipped with queen sized Serta Presidential Euro-top premium mattresses and high thread count linens. At Teras, clients work with their on-site case manager and our vocational coach to develop a recovery fellowship and engage work. Clients of Teras may also be involved in outpatient treatment while they develop a foundation in their recovery work, and apply to work positions. After 30 days, clients are expected to be employed while they continue progress in their recovery work.

The ability to spend 6 months to a year in a supportive environment allows you to learn more about yourself and your addiction. Our support program will afford you support while you mend relationships with family and friends. I arrived at my new sober living house in September of 2010. I quickly discovered that my mind’s concept of a controlling environment with supervision and strict management was very different from what I entered into that day.

We also include fun social events, like our weekly BBQ and bowling nights. Clients also learn life skills through one on one mentoring and fun events, like cooking with exceptional private chefs! Also included, our New Beginning Recovery community offers activities, like weekend rock climbing, golf, and basketball. On Saturdays, clients can participate in engagement activities, like trampoline dodgeball, go-kart racing, and escape room challenges.

Some guys come naturally to working with dough, while others are more comfortable with a knife. Teras, our flexible structure home, offers a lower cost model for those ready to return to work, and who have their own transportation. There is a saying that “all we need to know we learned in kindergarten”.
This less structured residence is designed to support clients when they have 25+ hours of work or other outside structure weekly, which can be developed with assistance from our team, in the first 30 days. Darren originally joined the New Beginning Recovery team in 2015 after spending 2 years working in the Los Angeles recovery community. In his leadership role at Teras House, Darren interfaces with clients, families, and our support staff. Darren’s primary focus is to promote client development of recovery skills that will serve their long-term sobriety. Darren holds a BA from Stonehill College and was most recently the Assistant Director at New Beginning Recovery.
Each individual is supported to make his own choices in his recovery. Tharros offers an extensive and flexible peer support program to helps clients navigate important changes and decisions. Our team provides support to ongoing clinical work as part of that process.
